Many people delay getting a hair transplant simply because they don't know what to expect on the day of the procedure. The fear of the unknown can be paralyzing. So here is a complete, honest, hour-by-hour account of what actually happens on hair transplant day at Renaissance Clinic India — from arrival to going home.

8:30 AM — Arrival & Pre-Op Preparation

You arrive at our clinic at Jaipuria Mall, Indirapuram. Our team welcomes you and takes you through final paperwork. Pre-operative photos of your scalp are taken from multiple angles to document your baseline. You are given a light meal if you haven't eaten (we recommend eating beforehand).

9:00 AM — Scalp Marking & Design

Dr. Sukhbir Singh sits with you in front of a mirror and carefully designs your new hairline. This is a collaborative process — your face shape, age, and long-term hair goals are all considered. The hairline design is drawn on your scalp with a marker and adjusted until you are fully happy with it.

9:30 AM — Local Anaesthesia

This is the part most patients worry about most — and it's much less scary than you think. Local anaesthesia is administered to the donor area (back of the head) and the recipient area. You feel a few tiny pinches — and then absolutely nothing for the rest of the procedure. Most patients are surprised by how painless it is.

10:00 AM — Graft Extraction (FUE)

The extraction phase begins. Using a precision micro-punch device, our surgical team carefully extracts individual follicular units from the donor area. Depending on the number of grafts needed, this phase takes 2–4 hours. You can watch Netflix, listen to music, or simply rest during this time.

1:00 PM — Lunch Break

A comfortable break is taken. You are served lunch right at the clinic. The surgical team checks on you, and the extracted grafts are carefully preserved in a special solution to maximise survival rate.

2:00 PM — Graft Implantation

This is the most critical phase. Each follicle is meticulously implanted into tiny incisions made in the recipient area, following the natural hair growth direction and angle. This phase takes another 2–4 hours. By the end of this, your new hairline is fully in place — though it looks a bit raw and red at this stage.

5:30 PM — Post-Op Care & Instructions

Once the procedure is complete, our team applies a gentle dressing. Dr. Ashish Chauhan personally goes through your post-operative care instructions — how to sleep, how to wash your scalp, medications, and what to avoid. You are given a post-op kit to take home.

6:00 PM — You Head Home

Yes, hair transplant is a day procedure! You go home the same evening. Most patients report mild soreness for 1–2 days, which is easily managed with the prescribed medicines. The transplanted area scabs over in the first week, and the scabs fall off naturally within 10–14 days.

What Happens Next?

Week 2–4: Transplanted hair may shed (this is normal — called 'shock loss')

Month 3: New hair growth begins visibly

Month 6: Significant improvement in density

        Month 12: Full, natural-looking results
